THE VOICE OF WORDS – LA VOCE DELLE PAROLE
A Conversation with Claudio Pozzani between poetry, novels, & performance.
The Library of Congress, Latin American, Caribbean, and European Division (LACE) and the Italian Cultural Society of Washington DC (ICS), in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington, presented The Voice of Words in celebration of the XXIV Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo (Week of Italian Language in the World).
The event featured a welcome and introductions by LACE Chief Suzanne Schadl and ICS Director Francesca Casazza, followed by a conversation moderated by Lucia Alma Wolf on Claudio Pozzani’s novel Confessioni di un misantropo, poetry, and Futurism. Claudio Pozzani performed selected poetry, and the session concluded with a Q&A. Attendees also viewed a collection display, Italian Futurists at the Library of Congress, curated by Lucia Alma Wolf and Antonella Macneish.
A reception followed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ICS Italian Language Program. We extend our heartfelt thanks to LACE for hosting the event at the Library of Congress and to our sponsor, TOUTON, for donating Villa Yolanda Prosecco, which added a festive touch to the evening.
The following day, at the ICS, we concluded the week with an event “in Italian” with the participation of Parolab of Italians in DC. The evening included an excerpt of the Piano for Four Hands Concert performed at the Embassy of Italy on October 15th and a discussion of the book “Confessioni di un Misantropo” by Claudio Pozzani.
After the discussion, a book signing and an aperitivo Italiano with the author and the pianists concluded the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the ICS Italian Language Program during the 24th Edition of the Settimana della Lingua.
