Cinema has always been one of Italy’s most powerful cultural exports, bringing stories, traditions, and contemporary perspectives to audiences around the world. Beyond the screen, film creates opportunities for people to gather, exchange ideas, and connect through a shared cultural experience.
Why cinema? Because it invites conversation. A film may last only a couple of hours, but the discussions it inspires can continue long after the credits roll.
In this spirit, the Italian Cultural Society partnered with the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center for an evening celebrating contemporary Italian cinema and community. Before and after the screenings of The Last One for the Road (Le città di pianura), ICS members, friends, and film enthusiasts gathered in the AFI lobby for an aperitivo featuring Italian refreshments, lively conversation, and the opportunity to connect with fellow lovers of Italian culture.
The event offered a welcoming space to meet new people, exchange impressions about the film, and enjoy the convivial atmosphere that is at the heart of the Italian aperitivo tradition.
