On Sunday, June 1st, ICS welcomed guests both in person and online for a truly stellar experience—We Are All Stardust: A Cosmic Journey to Explore Why We Are All Stardust, presented in collaboration with ISSNAF (Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America Foundation).
Dr. Gioia Rau, renowned astrophysicist leader and expert in scientific leadership, strategy, and research, guided us on an awe-inspiring journey through space and time, revealing how the elements that make up our bodies were forged in the hearts of dying stars. Her captivating lecture explored the life cycles of stars, the formation of new celestial bodies, and the ongoing search for planets beyond our solar system—highlighting the profound connection between the cosmos and human life.
The audience—gathered at our Bethesda headquarters and tuning in via Zoom—was mesmerized. The lively Q&A that followed showed just how engaged and curious everyone was, with thought-provoking questions that deepened the conversation.
For families in attendance, a children’s movie was screened in a nearby room, allowing parents to fully enjoy the experience, knowing their little ones were entertained.
