On the occasion of Dantedì 2026, the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Society of Washington, hosted a sold-out and highly successful evening exploring the connection between great literature and music.
Italian and international songwriting has long drawn inspiration from the literary canon, and the works of Dante Alighieri have influenced artists across cultures and generations.
Professor Francesco Ciabattoni guided the audience through songs by renowned singer-songwriters — Vinicius de Moraes, Fabrizio De André, Gianna Nannini, and Loreena McKennitt — whose works echo themes from The Divine Comedy.
Following the introduction, the band The i-Talians brought these songs to life in a special live performance, contributing to the evening’s great success.
The event concluded with a rich buffet and cocktail reception, where guests continued the celebration in a warm, joyful, and engaging atmosphere.
