The Italian Language Program is one of the leading private schools in the metropolitan area offering courses in Italian language and culture, for children and adults. The instruction is uniquely structured so that each course is designed around the needs and interests of the participants in each class. Classes are offered at different levels from beginner to advanced with special courses dealing with Italian literature, music, art, and the regions of Italy. Also offered are weekend immersion courses (16 hours) for those traveling to Italy. Children learn to speak Italian with games and songs. Italian speaking children who may in the future return to the Italian school system, can attend the regular Italian as a first language courses, and at the end of each school year will receive a certificate of attendance with profit given by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs via the Italian Embassy. To better serve the students, classes are offered in various locations in the metropolitan area. At the end of the school year a "Saggio" event takes place at the Italian Embassy, during which the students receive their diplomas. All the instructors are well educated native Italians, experienced in using up-to-date methods and authentic materials. The Italian Language Program provides yearly workshops and seminars offered by professors from leading Italian universities. The Italian Language Program Resource Center offers instructors of Italian in the metropolitan area the opportunity to consult the latest, most advanced texts and audiovisuals, do research and attend workshops to create teaching material to be used in class using the Center's equipment. The Resource Center is the result of the contribution received from the Italian Government and the efforts, interest and collaboration of the Italian Embassy Educational Officer.
